Born in Brooklyn a month before Pearl Harbor, his parents wondering which was the more troubling event, and recently retired from the reinsurance business, Bob has been playing old time banjo since 1962 and is still in search of a modicum of proficiency on that instrument, mainly in the clawhammer and classic traditions. In the mid-1970s Bob played with a band styled Half Shaved that featured Larry MacBride (guitar), Bill Garbus (fiddle) and Margaret-Ann Martin (piano, dulcimer and accordion), the latter three being the real musicians in the group. The band recorded an LP and a cassette and received at least one favorable review. The Long Hill String Band has indulged Bob and only a portion of his eccentricities since 2015.]
